Doc detained, arms seized

Srinagar, Apr 21: A doctor was detained after a militant who had boarded his vehicle escaped in Mir Bazar area of Kulgam district this evening.
Army, SOG and CRPF had laid a naka at Mir Bazar area of Kulgam this evening. They stopped a car and apprehended a person and during searches of the vehicle, police recovered one AK-47 with two magazines and one pistol with one magazine.
The person who was detained turned out to be a doctor and further questioning is underway. The doctor was identified as Dr Aijaz Rasool son of Ghulam Rasool of Khrewan, Malpora, Kulgam.
Sources said that a militant had boarded the doctor’s vehicle and seeing the naka party he escaped from the spot. The militant had boarded the doctor’s vehicle at Al Stop Mir Bazar.
A police spokesman in a statement issued here said that at a naka point at Al stop in Mir Bazar the naka party intercepted a vehicle which was searched. During searches, one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and one AK 47 with two magazines were recovered from the vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody. Police have started the investigation into the matter”, Police added.
In the meantime, three youth were injured in alleged Army firing at Kareemabad village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening.
Army’s 55 RR patrolling party came under stone pelting at Hergam area of Kareemabad. The soldiers opened some shots resulting in injuries to three persons.
The injured have been identified as Sajad Bhat son of Mohammad Yousf, Tanveer Pandit son of Mohammad Abdullah, Faizan Bhat son of Farooq Bhat.
The trio were immediately shifted to nearby hospital where from they were referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.
A police spokesman said that an Army patrol party of 55 RR came under heavy stone pelting in Kareemabad area of Pulwama.
“The patrol party fired a few rounds to disperse the pelters .It is learnt that in the incident three miscreants were injured and were shifted to hospital for treatment. The condition of all the injured is stated to be stable”, police said.
