Do not use political influence in getting favourite postings: Govt to officials

JAMMU: The State Government while coming down heavily on officials using political influence to get transfers and postings of choice today asked such officials not to use influence otherwise non-compliance shall be viewed seriously and dealt with strictly in accordance with the rules.

In an order (Circular No 05-GAD of 2017, Dated:02-02-2017), issued here by the General Administration Department, the Government has said that while effecting the transfers, the eligibility and suitability of the concerned employees and the interest of Government work are to be given the utmost priority.

Based on Cabinet Decision No. 156/12/2010 dated 27.7.2010, vide Government Order No. 861-GAD of 2010 dated 28.7.2010, a detailed policy on transfers and postings of Government employees has already been issued, said an order.

It further said that some other departments have also notified transfer policies, specific to such departments, adding, ”it has however, been observed that some Government employees (officers and officials) of different services get recommendations from different political dignitaries in an attempt to bring political or other outside influence upon superior authorities to further their interest in respect of matters pertaining to their service under the Government”.
