DM issues warrant under PSA against bovine smuggler

SAMBA, Mar 17: Samba police has obtained detention warrant under Public Safety Act (PSA) from District Magistrate (DM) Samba against Mohd. Iqbal S/o Noor Mahi R/o village Madhera, tehsil and district, Samba who has been involved in eight cases of bovine smuggling and cattle thefts.
Police said the bovine smuggler is on run and is evading his arrest. However, efforts are afoot to apprehend him for which different teams of police and District Special Branch (DSB) have been tasked to ascertain the whereabouts of the bovine smuggler so that the detention warrant issued against him is executed at an earliest.
Police said that during the previous year also stringent action was taken against the bovine smugglers, drug smugglers and criminals to contain the crime besides ensuring peace and law & order in the district. While doing so, as many as 11 hardcore offenders were detained under PSA which includes three bovine smugglers, one drug smuggler and seven criminals. In addition to this, four dossiers in respect of bovine smugglers, lands grabbers and criminals also stands submitted to Divisional Commissioner Jammu/DM Samba for issuance of detention warrant against them for their involvement in repeated criminal activities, which are yet to be received.
