DLSA reaches out to Narwal fire victims

JAMMU, Nov 29: On the direction of Executive Chairman, J&K State legal Services Authority, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Dist. & Sessions Judge) Jammu, has constituted a Core Group consisting of Adnan Syed, Secretary, DLSA (Sub Registrar) Jammu, Sanjay Sharma, Retainer Advocate, Amit Gupta, Retainer Advocate, to implement the Scheme for Legal Services to the fire victims of Narwal.
The Core Group alongwith Retainer lawyers and staff members of DLSA, visited the spot, where 75 hutments/Jhuggies were burnt on November 26, 2016 in devastating fire incident. The Core Group has reported that 475 persons were staying in the hutments/Jhuggies and all have been affected by the tragic fire. The Core Group further reported to the Chairman DLSA that 15 to 12 tents have been provided by the Indian Red Cross Society and few utensils have also been provided to the affected families. Locals from the area after collecting money have provided ration which may be sufficient for 2/3 days as per strength of the family. No other aid has still been provided by the District Administration.
Chairman DLSA has requested District Magistrate to provide proper food and shelter and other food articles to the victims of fire and a separate tent for establishing a Temporary Legal Aid Clinic. SSP Jammu has also been requested to provide proper security to the fire victims.
