LEH, Feb 13: Amidst tension in the neighbouring district over centre of Divisional Commissioner, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Leh unit organised a massive convention at historical Polo Ground Leh to celebrate the Divisional Status to Ladakh region.
Congratulating the people of Ladakh for getting Divisional Status to the region LAHDC Chairman Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, said Divisional Status to Ladakh is a big step towards fulfillment of UT demand. He said that Divisional Status frees Ladakh from Kashmir rule.
“Kashmir region often discriminated with Ladakh region in all sectors including fund allocation and recruitment in various jobs but today Ladakh is empowered with Divisional Status and we got our own identity” said the Chairman while addressing a convention organized by BJP Leh unit at historical Polo Ground to celebrate the Divisional Status to Ladakh region.
Highlighting the BJP Government’s achievement, Deputy Chairman Gyal P Wangyal said that it is during BJP Government which connected Ladakh with Northern Grid with 220 KV and as a result of which Ladakh is presently getting 7KV power supply from which will be enhance in near future.
Counting his achievement, former Minister MLC Chering Dorje said that what Congress Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora couldn’t achieved during his 12 years’ Ministry what he achieved during his short tenure as State Minister. He presented his report card before the public which includes Women Police, IRP Battalion, released 14 crore liabilities of Kalachakra, Public Service Commission member representation from Ladakh, Enhancement of Hill Council financial Crore from 7 Crore to 20 Crore and Ladakh share of 20 Crore funding from PM package of 80,000 Crore.
BJP State general secretary Yudvir Sethi in his speech said that Ladakh is on top priority in Prime Minister’s mind and Ladakh region will get its equal share in all sectors and now BJP is empowered with Divisional Status. He said that it is BJP who fulfils all promises. Sethi said UT demand may take time but it is only BJP who can give UT to Ladakh in future.
Former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta said that BJP is the only party which gives spaces to all section of people and present Hill Council Chairman Jamyang coming from a humble family is testimonial to the fact whereas National Conference, People’s Democratic Party and Congress are family parties.
