JAMMU, Feb 11: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today visited the office of Regional Director Survey and Land Records to review the progress of digitization of land records under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP)
Pertinent to mention that the programme aims to modernize management of land records, minimize scope of land/property disputes and enhance transparency in the land records maintenance system.
During the visit Divisional Commissioner was informed that about 80% digitization work of priority material has been completed so far and out of 53 lakh pages to be scanned more than 39 lakh pages have been scanned pertaining to jamabandies.
Inspecting the various works under progress namely scanning, cropping, khasra indexing, quality checking of revenue documents, scanning and digitization of revenue Mussavi (Map), data entry and DGPS status of this division, Dr Kotwal asked for accelerating the pace of work for developing a modern, comprehensive and transparent land records management system .
He also directed the concerned to ensure that standard procedure may be followed for spellings of names of villages and tehsils matching those in census book and the old record may be preserved in such a way that it is saved for posterity.
While assessing the scanning and barcoding of jamabandis, Divisional Commissioner asked the department to maintain legal authenticity of the documents which could be read in English, Hindi and Urdu.
He further directed the vendors to work at war footing to ensure that the digitisation is completed in a timebound manner and people can avail the benefits of the programme with digital maintenance, preservation and updation of land records.
Deputy Commissioner Simrandeep Singh, Regional Director Survey and Land Records (ex-Officio Settlement Officer), Inder Jeet, Assistant Commissioner Central Muzaffar Ali Malik and Project Manager RamTech were present during the visit.
