Div Com reviews development scenario in Katra Town

KATRA, July 18: The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu,   Sanjeev Verma reviewed the status of ongoing developmental projects and new proposals for the integrated development of Katra Town and its surrounding areas at a meeting held here.
Among others meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Director, Health Department Jammu, Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu,  Chief Engineer, PWD(R&B), Chief Engineer, PDD, Director, Animal Husbandry department, Director, Agriculture and District officers of different departments.
The Div Com reviewed upcoming projects for improvement/augmentation of Water Supply Scheme of Katra Town (Dhansar Project), works under CRF, construction of residential accommodation for doctors and paramedical staff, renovation of ICU block at CHC, Katra, up-gradation of Fire and Emergency Station,   underground Cable laying  work, construction of solid waste management project and construction of Veterinary Hospital, Katra.
Verma instructed PDD to complete balance work for increasing the capacity of Tarakote Power Station from 3.15 MVA to 6.30MVA within 10 days. Directions were also issued to Chief Engineer, PHE to increase the water lifting capacity from Dhansar Project within 15 days and thereafter the deliverable water to Katra Town would be 15 to 16 lakhs gallon per day. He also asked officers of PHE Department to install Public Stand Posts at various locations as desired by the public.
The Div Com urged the Horticulture and the Floriculture Departments to develop dedicated green zones in the semi urban areas of district Reasi. He highlighted the importance of encouraging cultivation of fruit trees as it would benefit both the farmers as well as the environment. He also suggested the use of Kiosks by farmers to sell their local produce for sustenance of their livelihoods.
He urged the officers to personally monitor the progress of developmental activities on a regular intervals to ensure that various projects are completed within the fixed timelines.
