Div Com inaugurates Khelo India Competition

JAMMU, Nov 14: J&K State Khelo India Competition sponsored by Government of India and organised by J&K State Sports Council got underway at KK Hakku Stadium, here today.
The competition was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, while Yasir Arafat, Chief Accounts Officer, J&K State Sports Council, RK Bhat, Executive Engineer, J&K State Sports Council, STC officials and many others were also present.
The mega event comprise of 9 recognized events, which include Athletics, Boxing, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Kho-Kho, Weight Lifting, Wushu and Taekwondo. More than 1500 boys and girls viz officials will took part in the event.
While speaking, Divisional Commissioner said that sports is a carrier oriental field, which also improves physical growth of the children. He appealed the youth to join these games and sports.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council, who expressed the whole event from district to State level competitions.
Among others present were Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K State Sports Council Jammu, different association members, SP Singh, Manager Mini Stadium Parade, Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Sports Complex and all Council staff.
In the end, Ashok Singh, Manager MA Stadium presented vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, organised by the District Administration Kathua, the block level tournament under Khelo India Scheme witnessed the matches of football for under-19 and above-19 boys and girls in which 108 players of CD block Hiranagar participated at Sports Stadium Hiranagar.
The tournament is being organised under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria. DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar was the Organising Secretary of the tournament.
Football Club Hiranagar lifted the trophy of under-19 boys by defeating Football Club Gurah Mundiyan by a solitary goal, whereas in under-19 girls, GHSS Sallan defeated GHSS Mangloor by 2-0 goals.
The matches were officiated by Sartaj Singh, Harvinder Singh, Avnesh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Kuldeep Singh under the supervision of ZPEO Hiranagar Yog Raj Sharma.
