JAMMU, Oct 30: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh awarded the winners of the State Table Tennis Championship, which was organized under Khelo India Scheme.
The Championship was organized by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council at Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium here.
Ravi Kumar, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Complex, Ajay Sharma, Organizing Secretary, Satbir Singh, Former International TT Player, Rajan Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Er Saleem Bandey Secretary Poonch District TT Association, Lokesh Sharma, IP Singh, Najeeb-ur-Fani, Sheetal Gandotra, Naresh Gupta, Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra, NIS Coach, Asad Sharma, Coach, Sanjeev Gupta, Prof Satinder Singh, Prof Jasbir Singh, Riaz Ahmed and Meenu Rajesh were also present on the occasion.
In girls’ singles, Iknoor Kour, Hargun Kour and Suhani Kour, secured first, second and third positions respectively.
In boys’ category, Saksham Verma, Hanumat Sharma and Maanay Mansotra bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In girls’ doubles, Hargun and Suhani Kour bagged first prize, whereas Iknoor Kour and Ragni secured second position. The third position was clinched by Vidhushi Gupta and Isha.
In boys’ doubles, Saksham Verma and Hanumat Sharma bagged first position, whereas Akhilesh Khajuria and Mannay Mansotra clinched second position. The third position was bagged by Sourab and Madhav Sharma.
While speaking, Divisional Commissioner encouraged the players to participate in games. “Sports plays important role for the overall development of the body”, he asserted.
IGP Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh in his speech impressed upon the players and other students to stay away from drugs.
