POONCH, Mar 31: The weeklong District Sports Festival, organized by District Police Poonch, under Civic Action Program (CAP) concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
About 25 teams (boys/girls) drawn from different schools and sports clubs of District Poonch participated in various sports events, which included Volleyball, Tug-of-War, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi Badminton and Table Tennis etc.
The Sports Festival was organized under the supervision of SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey with slogan ‘Choose life not Drugs’.
Commander 93 Inf AS Pendharker was the chief guest on the concluding function. SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey, ASP Anwar ul Haq, DySP Mohan Sharma, DySP Shahid Nayeem, DySP Dr Bisham Dubey and SHO Poonch Sachinder Pal Singh, besides prominent citizens including Tariq Khan, Nirdosh Kumar, Shahzad Khan, Pardeep Khanna, Josh and Bandey were present on the closing ceremony.
While speaking on the occasion, Pendharker said that sports is the key to physical and mental fitness and strengthen one to face challenges in life. He lauded the efforts of SSP Poonch and Poonch Police for organizing Sports Festival to boost young talent of the District.
He furter said that these types of events help youth in keeping a distance from ill and hazardous practices besides maintaining their physical fitness.
SSP in his welcome address expressed gratitude to youth and Sports Department and Sports Council in making the event a success.
On the concluding day, a Volleyball match was also played in which Manjeet Singh Club lifted the title trophy.
