District Open Table Tennis Tournament concludes

UDHAMPUR, Dec 8: District Open Table Tennis Tournament organized by District Police Udhampur under CAP in collaboration with district administration, J&K sports council and Udhampur Table Tennis association, concluded here on Wednesday at District Sports Indoor Complex, Mini Stadium here.
Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Danish Rana was the chief guest while DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta (IGP) was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu said that the main aim of organizing such tournaments is to provide the young talented players with an opportunity to compete and boost their skills besides providing a platform for youth to achieve their dream of playing at national and international levels. He also said that awareness regarding ill effects of drug addiction can also be generated through such programmes.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range said that there is no dearth of talent in the district and appreciated the collaborative role played by the District administration and District police in providing a suitable platform to the young talent of the district.
About 287 players participated in the tournament. Sourav Sharma, Mahi Kailu, Anish Dabgotra , Anju, Purvi won the match under Cadet (Boys ) category, Sub Junior Boys category , Junior Boys category, Junior Girls category, Senior Girls category respectively while Sudansh Verma and Rajat Khajuria won the Men’s Double match.
A cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
Earlier, SSP Dr. Shailendra Mishra presented the welcome address while District Development Commissioner , Niraj Kumar extended vote of thanks.
Among others, ADDC Arvind Sharma, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, PO-DRDA Jagdish Chander Mehra, CMO Dr. Chander Prakash, DFO Territorial, Jugal Kishore, DFO Social Forestry, Dr. Rajan Singh, ARTO Rajesh Gupta and other district and police officers besides prominent citizens attended the grand finale of the tournament.
