JAMMU, May 17: Inter-Zonal District Level Competition in the sports disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Wrestling boys Under-14 and Under-17 years of District Jammu for the year 2018-19 got underway at MA Stadium and Govt Boys High School Jammu Cantt, here today.
In all, 895 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District are taking part in the competitions.
The competitions are being organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu. Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the Organising Secretary of the tournament.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Mrs Kour in an impressive function.
The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams of Jammu District for the Inter District Division Level competitions.
The winners in Volleyball Under-17 Boys included Jourian Zone, Dansal Zone, Bhalwal Zone, RS Pura Zone, Bishnah Zone and Miran Sahib Zone, while in Volleyball Under-14 Boys the winners included Gandhi Nagar Zone, Dansal Zone, Bhaslwal Zone, Miran Sahib Zone, Khour Zone and Bishnah Zone.
In Kabaddi Under-17 boys, Dansal, Bhalwal, Satwari, Arnia, Miran Sahib, Khour and Jammu emerged winners, while in Kabaddi Under-14 boys, Jammu Zone, RS Pura, Arnia, Satwari, Khour, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Akhnoor were the winners.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 boys at GHS Jammu Cantt, Akhnoor, Dansal, Marh and Jammu Zones entered semifinals, while in Kho-Kho Under-17 boys, Marh Zone beat Arnia Zone by 3 points to seal berth in the semifinals.
