JAMMU, May 12: District Level Inter-School Competit-ions in the disciplines of Basketball, Football Handball and Softball Under-14 and Under-17 years girls got underway at MA Stadium, GGM Science College, Dogra Ground Shastri Nagar and Green Field Gandhi Naga respectively, here today.
In all, 650 girls and boys drawn from Private and Government institutions are taking part in the competitions.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports as a part of the Annual Calendar of activities, under the overall supervision of Sukhdevraj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu, who declared the competitions open in presence of ZPEO’s Jeet Singh and Sarita Pandha.
In Basketball Under-17 girls, APS, Kalu Chack beat MIER by 15-0; Jodhmal defeated Carmal Convent by 10-3; MHAC Nagbani drubbed APS, Miran Sahib by 14-2 and APS Ratnuchak emerged winners over their rivals by 10-08, while in Basketball Under-14 girls, APS, Sunjwan trounced MHAC Nagbani by 12-0; Heritage Public School beat APS Kalu Chack by 08-0; Carmal Convent outplayed SOS by 02-0 and Jodhamal lost to their opponents by 09-08.
In Softball Under-14 girls’ event, Girls HSS Canal Road prevailed over MS Gadi Garh by 06-2; Wazir Jankinath HS beat GHS Rehari by 08-2, while in the semifinals, Girls HSS Canal Road drubbed HSS Paloura by 04-3 and Carmal Convent trounced Wazir Jankinath by 09-2.
In the final, Carmal Convent defeated HSS Canal Road by 08-3.
In Football Under-14 boys, DPS beat SOS via tie breaker by (3-1); Heritage School trounced Jodhamal by (1-0), while in Football Under-17 boys ,
DPS outplayed GD Goneka via tie breaker by (3-2) and MHAC Nagbani beat APS Ratnu Chack by 1-0.
In Handball Under-17 girls final, St. Peter BC Road beat St Francis HSS Akhnooor by 8-1, while in Handball Under-14 girls final, Presentation Convent thrashed St. Francis HSS, Akhnoor by 7-1.
Zone Bani emerged Champion in Volleyball and Kabaddi Under-17 girls and Zone Hiranagar lifted the title of Kho-Kho Under-/17 girls in the Inter Zone District Level Tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kathua under the supervision of DYSSO Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj at Sports Stadium Kathua. The MLA Rajiv Jasrotia was the Chief Guest of the day and distributed prizes among the winners and
A total of 271 players of all 12 zones of Kathua participated on fourth consecutive day of tournament.
Meanwhile, Hiranagar and Bani zones remained runner-up in Kabaddi and Kho-Kho respectively while zone Billawar remained runners-up in Volleyball Under-17 girls.
One day Zonal Level Inter School Athletic meet for Boys U/14yrs, U/17yrs of zone Udhampur conducted by the Department of Youth Services & Sports Udhampur under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer, Zone Udhampur, Santosh Kumari at Mini Stadium Udhampur.
About 185 Boys drawn from different 19 Govt as well as private Institutions of zone Udhampur participated in the Athletic Meet.

A 3-ay Zonal Level Inter school tournament organized by department of youth services and sports of Zone Bhalla concluded today.
About 200 students, in the age group of U-14 and U-17, participated in the tournament which witnessed competitions in Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Wrestling and Athletics.
The tournament was organised under the chairmanship of Ashok Kotwal, DYSSO Doda and inaugurated by principal HSS Berreru. I/C ZPEO Bhalla, Jaswant Raj Kotwal managed the sports event.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports District Samba organized Inter School District Level Jump Rope Tournament at Campus Kindergarden Vijaypur for U/14 & U/17 Boys and Girls under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports officer Samba Sunil Kumar. 101 players from 8 Schools of district Samba participated in the event. Mohinder Singh Chairman Cooperative Societies J&K was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Principal of the School Vovinder Kumar was also present on the occasion.
