JAMMU, Nov 18: District Kickboxing Championship was organized by J&K Kickboxing Association under the guidance of GN Tantray, President of the Association.
The championship was scheduled for two days and was conducted for different weight categories.
Dr Vikesh Kaur, Principal Doon International School was the chief guest on the valedictory function. The opening ceremony was presided over by Mani Ram Vice President of Kirpal Ashram.
A total of 260 students from 7 schools and academies namely Presentation Convent, Doon Internatioal School, RMPS, Bharti Shiksha Kendra School, Air Force School, Alis Sports Academy Jammu and Sambyal Club participated in the championship.
Doon International School emerged as the winner by winning 11 gold, 16 silver and 22 bronze medals under the guidance of the coach Sahil Sambyal where as Bhartiya Shiksha Kendra School was the runner-up with 9 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals.
The chief guest Dr Vikesh Kaur asserted that such sports of adventurous nature are the demand of today’s scenario not only for self defense but also to enhance the fear management skill of the children. “It is the onus of the school and the parents to prepare the children for an unpredictable future by instilling confidence and indomitable spirit of taking risk. Spirited and confident children of today are the beginning of the bright future of our nation”, Dr Kaur asserted.
The championship was organized and coordinated by Younis Hassan, General Secretary, Faizal and Harmeet Singh.
