JAMMU, Apr 17: Inter School District Level Competitions of District Jammu in the disciplines of Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis and Carrom Under-14 and Under-17 boys gets underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
In all, 300 players drawn from Government and Private Institutions of District Jammu are taking part in the competitions.
The main objective of these competitions is to select the teams in these disciplines for the competitions at the higher levels.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu, under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and under the overall supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Sukh Dev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu in a simple function
In Chess Under-14 Boys final, Soham of DPS Jammu beat Dewang of Jodhamal Public School to claim the title.
Earlier, in 1st semifinal, Soham of DPS beat Jagadi of APS Miran Sahib, while in 2nd semifinal, Dewang of Jodhamal got better of Sahib of APS Miran Sahib.
The matches were officiated by Raman Kumar and Nitin Sethi.
In Badminton Under-14 Boys, APS Domana beat DBN by 2-0 and SOS drubbed APS Sunjwan by 2-0.
In Badminton Under-17 Boys, BSF Paloura registered 2-0 win, while APS Domana trounced Maharishi Vidyamandir by 2-0.
In Carrom Under-14 boys singles final, Vishwas of SOS emerged winner, while Shubam of APS Domana remained runners-up. In Table Tennis Under-14 boys’ quarterfinal, DPS Jammu defeated JP World by 3-0, while in
Table Tennis Under-17 boys, DPS Jammu beat Model Academy by 3-0.
