District Fencing Championship concludes at Reasi

REASI, Mar 25: Two days 13th Reasi District Open Fencing Championship 2018-19, organized by Reasi District Fencing Association (RDFA) in collaboration with General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi concluded in the Multipurpose Hall of the College, here.
On the closing ceremony and prize distribution function, Chief Medical Officer Reasi, Dr Parminder Singh was the chief guest, while Dr Prem Singh (Principal) and Dr Pritam Singh were the special guests. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr Surya Partap, Dr Rakesh Bharti, Assistant Prof Kourab Singh and Dr Amit Bali.
In the first bout, Tariq Hussain defeated Kamal Kumar by 10-08 in Epee event and in the second final, Diksha Sharma got the better of Deepika Thakur by 10-09 in Foil event.
The bouts were officiated by Ravinder Kumar, Rohit Panjgotra and Abhinav Pandotra.
The event is supervised by RDFA Coach and former national fencer Ajay Kumar.
In Open Foil Girls, Diksha Sharma bagged Gold, Deepika Thakur clinched Silver and Surbhi Sharma claimed Bronze, while in Open Epee Boys, Tariq Hussain won Gold, Kamal Kumar clinched Silver and Rohit Kumar bagged Bronze.
According to the organisers all the medallist fencers in the Championship will compete in J&K State Open Fencing Championship at University of Jammu from March 26 to 28, 2019.
