KATHUA, Mar 7: Continuing the anti-encroachment drive the district administration Kathua today demolished encroachments made by some people in various areas of the town.
A team led by Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria  accompanied by Tehsildar, CEO Municipal Council and Police team visited various locations of Kathua and removed the illegal encroachments.
The team started its drive from Nagari Adda Chowk and after that removed encroachments on jail road, court road, Shaheedi Chowk and College road. The team seized the huge quantity of material displayed in front the shops on footpaths and removed the encroachments from the footpaths and road.
Some of the shopkeepers immediately removed the encroachments after getting the information of drive. The rehri wallas and vendors were also warned by the team to immediately remove the encroachment and shift their establishment. Otherwise legal action would be taken against them.
The team also retrieved an old pond on college road and removed the illegal encroachment made on it. The Tehsildar Kathua Avtar Singh said that the action was taken after the direction of higher authorities and encroachers are also warned to avoid all this in future. He said the hurdles in flow of traffic on the road also be removed if found anywhere.
The Revenue authorities also demarcated another old pond at Kalibari and started plantation on it. The pond is spread over 22 kanals and 3 marlas of land and department is measuring the pond and encroached land will also be retrieved.
