Director Sports reviews arrangements for 62nd National School Games

*Chairs meeting of officers, organizing committee

JAMMU, Feb 4: Director Youth Services and Sports, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed reviewed the arrangements for 62nd National School Games in the disciplines of Cricket Undert-17 Girls and Tennis Cricket Under-19 Boys and Girls while chairing a meeting of officers and organizing committee members at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
While reviewing the arrangements, the Director after getting feedback from the conveners of various committees asked them to leave no stone unturned in making the mega event a grand success.
After holding threadbare discussion with the conveners of premier committees including Ceremony Committee, Technical Committee, Boarding and Lodging Committee and Medical Committee, the Director advised them to involve all their members in various tasks.
Sheikh Fayaz informed that three venues including KC Public School, Jammu University and Heritage School have been chosen for holding Cricket Under-17 Girls’ matches, while four venues namely MA Stadium, Green Field ground, Dogra ground and Mini Stadium Parade have been selected for holding Under-19 Boys and Girls Tennis Cricket matches.
He said that the lodging arrangements for various participating teams from across the Country have been made in Vaishnavi Dham, near Railway Station and Youth Hostel Nagrota.
The Director informed that J&K created record in winning medals this season by claiming a total of 116 medals so far, adding that the State expects more medals from this mega Championship also.
The Championship will be held from Feb 7 to 11, 2017 at Jammu.
Prominent among others present in the meeting were Joint Director Jammu, Madan Lal; Deputy Director Central, Haji Mirza Hussain; Principal, Physical College Ganderbal, Hartej Singh and District Youth Services and Sports Officers namely Dr Swaran Singh Chib, Mohd Ayaz Khan, Dewan Chand, Sukhdev Singh, Jarpal Singh, Sunil Kumar, Noor-ul-Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed.
