Director S&LR conducts surprise inspection of Chenani Tehsil Office

UDHAMPUR, July 22: Amit Sharma, Director Survey & Land Records (Ex-Officio Settlement Officer) Udhampur/Reasi,  today conducted a surprise inspection of Tehsil Office Chenani to check the maintenance of revenue records and others relevant documents.
During the inspection, an extensive checking of revenue records was done and lots of anomalies were pointed out to take corrective measures at the earliest regarding ratification of errors. He was accompanied by a team of officers and officials from his office, which included Naib Tehsildar Narinder Kumar, Patwari Ghulam Mohd and others.
Amit Sharma checked the Record Room extensively wherein land records/documents of entire Chenani tehsil are stored. It was found during the inspection that Lathas and Massavis were lying haphazardly and appropriate instructions were given to do proper stacking and indexing of the same along with tracking sufficient measures for their proper preservation so that they remain in proper shape pre and post scanning of all such data under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme. All the revenue registers such as Jamabandi, Girdawri, Mutation and other registers were also checked on random basis and lot of shortcomings were pointed out to take immediate corrective measures.
Tehsildar Chenani Pardeep Singh told Amit Sharma that Jamabandis of almost all villages falling under Chenani jurisdiction was complete upto year 2014-15 and the work regarding next years was going in full swing and shall be completed soon. Amit Sharma stressed upon writing of at least one revenue village Jamabandi per month as per circular instructions which should be followed in letter and spirit. Once the same is done, the latest Jamabandis can be sent to Central Record Database for scanning of such relevant data which is a part of ongoing computerization process which will make life easier for none other than revenue authorities itself apart from giving huge relief to general public.
Apart from this, Director S&LR and his team also created awareness about the benefits of ongoing exercise of digitization and computerization of land records.
