JAMMU, Jan 4: State Judicial Academy today organized oath ceremony and lecture on ‘Professional Ethics and Conduct’ for newly enrolled Advocates of Jammu province.
The lecture was organized under the guidance and patronage of Chief Patron of J&K State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthak-umar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Member).
Abdul Rashid, Director, State Judicial Academy administered oath to the newly enrolled Advocates, who even received absolute Advocates’ licenses.
The oath ceremony was followed by lecture on the “Professional Ethics and conduct” delivered by Director, Judicial Academy, who stressed upon the newly enrolled Advocates to always act in a dignified manner before the court and respect the court.
“A lawyer must always refuse to represent clients who insist on unfair means. An Advocate must always appear in proper dress code recognized by the Bar Council but he should not wear bands or gowns in public places”, he said, adding “an Advocate can never appear in matters where he has financial interests”.
He impressed upon the young lawyers to work hard as the lawyer is the future of the nation and has to play very important role in ensuring the rule of law and social justice. He reminded the lawyers about the role played by the leading lawyers of the country in framing the Constitution and the Constitutional Debates which serve as a beacon light for all in taking the nation forward towards the path of success.
