Director Agri suspends 14 officials

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: With a view to reach out to the farmers at grass root level, the Director Agriculture Kashmir Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad today visited several areas of District Baramulla and had a direct interaction with the farmers.
Director Agriculture Kashmir was accompanied by Joint Director Extension Altaf Ajaz Andrabi and Director Rakhs & Farms, A.R. Samoon.
During a meeting at Guthiyaar village of Sub Division Baramulla, the Director was told that so far no official from Agriculture Department visited the village, nor has the department provided any incentive to the farmers, despite the fact that the village is just one kilometer away from Khwaja Bagh Baramulla. The Director on the basis of feedback from farmers placed I/c Agriculture Extension Officer, Barkat Ali Khan and his field staff under suspension for dereliction of duties and failure to reach out to the farmers.
Director Agriculture Kashmir and other senior Agriculture officers made the farmers aware about various programmes and schemes, being implemented by the department for the development of farming community.
Earlier, Director Agriculture Kashmir conducted a surprise inspection of the Sub Divisional Agriculture Office Pattan and found 14 officials of the office of SDAO & AEO Pattan absent from duty, against whom action according to relevant rules has been initiated.
