Digi Dhan Mela to be held on Jan 17: DC Jammu

JAMMU, Jan 14: Deputy Commissioner  Simrandeep Singh today announced holding of Digi Dhan Mela, a Government of India initiative by NITI Aayog, for incentivizing digitally enabled transformation on January 17.
Addressing a press conference, the Deputy Commissioner said that the event will witness participation of various banks, telecom companies, mobile wallet operators and stalls for ration card under NFSA, JMC, RTO, fertiliser companies, oil companies alongwith a structured event at 3 pm comprising dignitaries and celebrities.
He extended open invitation to the public with emphasis on services to be made available at the event including opening of new bank accounts, providing debit and Rupay cards, seeding of aadhar and mobile numbers with bank accounts, training of usage of various apps for cashless transactions, registering of merchants for selling of point of sale machines.
He further said that Aadhar counters will offer corrections in mistakes like names and date of birth and issuance of PVC Aadhar card whereas the stalls for ration card will ensure  on spot rectification of categories and address etc.
The event will also see poster competition involving school and college students, the top five posters of which will be awarded with cash award and certificates besides presentation of other cultural programmes.
The Deputy Commissioner requested the people of the city to turn up in the event in large number and avail the opportunities to be provided at single platform for making  a positive move towards cashless transactions.
In response to a question, the DC said two panchayats  Harsa Dhabbad and Sargwal have been 100% digitally enabled and  will be felicitated on the day of the mela to make this initiative a huge success at grass root level .
Calling this event a march towards cashless economy with multiple benefits to its users, the DC asked people from all walks of life to step in at the venue for aadhar or ration card corrections and various trainings being offered for cashless transfers.
