DIG seeks cooperation of media, civil society in fostering peace

RAJOURI, Mar 3: The DIG Rajouri and Poonch Range Deepak K Salathia has sought the cooperation of media and civil society in promotion of brotherhood and eradication of crime and drug menace from the society.
The DIG during an interaction with media persons here today said both civil society and media play an important role in transformation of the society. “Police is trying to increase liaison with people for promotion of peace and brotherhood and for the same we need cooperation of both media and civil society’’, he added.
DIG said though there is total peace and calm in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch still we need to remain vigilant in view of coming festival season so that the miscreants don’t get any chance to create trouble and vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the area.
In reply to a question of traffic chaos being witnessed at Abdullah bridge the DIG said that cops will be placed on duty to regulate the traffic there.
Mohammed Yousf Additional SP Rajouri said police needs cooperation of people to curb the drug menace and we all have to be vigilant against the drug mafia. He said police is paying attention to public problems and efforts are even being made at our level to solve them.
He said media has also a role to perform and it should not publish such reports which create hatred between the communities.
