IMO for shifting of Ayurvedic College to new building

JAMMU, Nov 5: In connection with celebration of Jayanti of Lord Dhanwantri, the creator of Ayurveda System of Medicines, various functions were held here, today.
Grand programmes were organized by Government Ayurveda Hospital, Jammu and Indigenous Medicines Organization (IMO) on the occasion of Bhagwan Dhanwantri Jayanti today.
The day is also celebrated as National Ayurveda Day. At Ayurvedic Hospital function a large number of people dealing with ISM including Ayurvedic physicians, retired doctors belonging to all associations, in service doctors and para medical staff were present. A hawan was also performed on the occasion.
Rajesh Gupta MLA, Jammu East was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that he has already provided Rs 4.65 lakh for Dhanwantri Kunj and will provide more funds from his CDF for promotion of Ayurveda which is India’s ancient and time tested medical science.
O P Sharma, Vidiarthi, Director J&K SFRI who was the special guest on the occasion distributed saplings of medicinal plants among the people.
Dr Taran Singh, Medical Superintendent of Government Ayurvedic Hospital , Jammu in his address said that Dhanwantri Kunj was an idea to make people aware about the use of medicinal plants.
The IMO function was chaired by Dr K K Gandotra, former Deputy Director ISM and among others Dr Mahesh Sharma general secretary of the organization also spoke on the occasion.
While paying obeisance to Lord Dhanwantri, Dr Gandotra urged the ISM fraternity to follow the path shown by Lord for the well being and benefit of humanity as whole and serve ailing humanity selflessly with a spirit of dedication.
He also made an appeal to Governor, S P Malik to shift the Ayurvedic College to newly constructed building at Akhnoor within the stipulated time as the new building fulfills all norms of CCIM. The present set up of Ayurvedic College Jammu is running in two rooms and that too are without infrastructure and don’t fulfill CCIM norms. Over Rs 21 crore were spent on the building by State Government as well as Ayush and this all will go waste if the college is not shifted there, he added.
Moreover he demanded that technically qualified Principal should be appointed for the Government Ayurvedic College as per CCIM norms, faculty posts be created strictly as per the CCIM norms in accordance with five Government Medical Colleges, all the gazette posts be filled up through PSC, the temporary deployment and arrangements should be in accordance with prescribed law after proper advertisement and pick and choose system be avoided, all the required OPDs should be made functional with proper staff as per Schedule IV of CCIM, Nodal Officer post be abolished and the criteria be fulfilled for granting approval to Ayurvedic College by CCIM which has raised many queries in this regard.
Another function was organized by JIAR to celebrate the Ayurveda Day. The programme commenced with ritual workshop of Lord Dhanwantri which was followed by various other programmes like post presentation and PowerPoint presentation by BAMS and P G Scholars of JIAR.
The programme was organized under the guidance of chairperson, Suman Sharma , Managing Director Ritesh and Ravish, Vice Principal of JIAR Dr Raghuvir Singh, Vice Principal, Dr Nitin Mahajan.
The judge announced Ayushi Verma, Ayush Saproo and Sucheeta first second and third winners respectively for post presentation.
Dhanwantri Jayanti was also celebrated in the premises of Rahul Pharma, Jammu. Dr Virender Mahajan, CEO of Rahul Pharma while speaking on the occasion said the Ministry of AYUSH has taken number of steps for the promotion of Ayurveda but it must concentrate on prevention of diseases by propagating its teachings described in texts for different seasons. Such teachings should be made part of syllabus of school going children.
Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for urinary Disorder (R.A.R.I.U.D), Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab, Jammu under CCRAS, Ministry of AYUSH. Govt. Of India celebrated 3rd Ayurveda Day today. On this occasion, the institute organized various programmes for the common people and patients. In the beginning Dhanvantri Pooja with Vedic mantras was performed by the Institute incharge Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh. After this the institute distributed some common medicinal plant seedlings to the people who attended the function.
