DGP flags off Bikers Rally on ‘Swachhta’

JAMMU, Mar 11: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr SP Vaid and Bharti Vaid, Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) flagged off Bikers rally on the theme of ‘Swachhta’ from Bikram Chowk, here today.
The Bike rally was organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, J&K Region to create awareness about Swachhta on the theme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan- Swachh Survekshan, 2018” in and around Jammu city.
About 50 Bikers from various biking clubs of Jammu participated in the rally.
The rally started with administering of ‘Swachhta Pledge’ by DGP and  Mrs. Bharti to DFP officials and bikers participating in the rally.
Deputy Director, DFP (J&K Region), Neha Jalali was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the Bike Riders at Bikram Chowk, Dr Vaid welcomed the steps taken by Directorate of Field Publicity for organizing such awareness initiatives to encourage people to be a part of the campaign. He said that society especially youth has to take lead for creating a “Clean India’.
Mrs Vaid highlighted the importance of such programmes for generating momentum for swachhta abhiyan and for enlisting continued support from public.
Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, DFP, Govt. of India, J&K region while felicitating the Bikers at the culmination point at Media Centre, Panjtirthi, said community mobilisation, people’s support and action was essential for creating consciousness about swachhta.
She said that DFP has organised a number of programmes with active support of District administration on cleanliness and a number of progrmmes and activities are being carried out in Jammu region on the theme.
The presentation by the troupes of Song & Drama Division was another attraction of the Programme at Media Centres, Panjtirthi, Jammu.
The Programme was a part of various initiatives being taken by Directorate of Field Publicity and Song and Drama Division of Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with Union Ministry of Housing &Urban Affairs for mobilisation and awareness related to Swachhta titled ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Swachh Surveksvan-2018’.
