DG BRO calls on CM, reviews functioning of GREF

JAMMU, Jan 11: Director General, Border Roads Organisation, Lt. Gen. Suresh Sharma called on the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti here today and briefed her about the status of various road connectivity projects taken up by his organisation in the State.
The Chief Minister impressed upon Lt. Gen. Sharma to expedite work on the connectivity projects so that the people of the State are saved off of the difficulties of terrain and weather in Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Sharma visited AOR of Project Sampark along with Chief Engineer, Project Sampark, PKH Singh, to review the overall security of GREF detachments.
During his 2-day visit which started yesterday, Lt Gen Sharma visited Battal Camp site and met the injured labourer. DGBR also visited the Kalai Bridge in Poonch which is under completion and drove on Surankote-Bafliaz-Thanamandi-Rajouri road to get first hand information as this road is gateway to Mugal road and is under upgradation to double lane.
He also took stock of progress on Road Rajouri – Kandi – Budhil. The DGBR met local Army Formation commanders to stress the need for close co-ordination between BRO and Army for overall security of BRO Camps.
