DFO ‘thrashes’ Forester

Srinagar, Nov 30: A Forester was today allegedly thrashed by a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) during plantation drive in Yunkura area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir.
Forester Bashir Ahmad alleged that his senior Waseem Farooq Mir, who is DFO of JV Division in Baramulla, slapped him and hit him with a plant pot during the plantation drive without any provocation. “The assault was unwanted and I received some injuries on my face,” Bashir alleged.
Nazir Ahmad Dar of Forester Association condemned the alleged assault and termed it unacceptable. “Bashir has sustained some injuries on face. We condemn it. The Conservator has been apprised about the matter,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Forest Conservator when contact did not respond to the calls of Excelsior.
