DFCO suspends licenses of over 22 drug outlets for violating norms

JAMMU, Sept 8: Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO) today conducted surprise checking in many retail outlets of drugs in city outskirts and suspended licenses of more than 22 outlets for violating norms.
The surprise checking was conducted by a team of officers of DFCO constituted by its Controller, Lotika Khajuria under the direct supervision of Assistant Drug Controllers, Mohd Iqbal Pala and Renuka Raina.
The checking was conducted in the rural belts of Jammu district viz Kanachak, Gho Manhasa, Marh, Gajansoo, RS Pura, Dablehar, Moola Chak, Biaspur, Bishnah and Arnia. During the drive, about 22 were found indulging in unethical trade practices and committing breaches of the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 & Rules there under. Operations of such firms were disallowed on spot and licenses of the firms were suspended for violation of the provisions of the Act, in larger public interest.
Moreover, statutory drug samples of more than 30 formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs, etc were drawn to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs. These samples have been referred to State Drug Testing Laboratories for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters to ensure that quality medicines are made available to the general public.
The firms which were found violating the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act  and whose operations were disallowed and licenses suspended thereafter are M/s Suresh Medical Hall, Sangrampur; M/s Pushap Medicare Center, Nagbani Morh; M/s Prince Medicos, Gajansoo; M/s SM Medicate, Marh; M/s Shanker Medical Hall, Lale da Bagh; M/s Hari Medicos, Akalpur Chowk; M/s Siya Medicos, Lahari Chak (Marh); M/s Rama Medical Center, Gho Manhasa; M/s Bawa Medical Hall, Subash Nagar; M/s Navjeevan Medicos, Subash Nagar; M/s Hari Om Medical Shop, Biaspur; M/s Public Medicos, Dablehar; M/s Neelam Medicos, Biaspur; M/s Om Medical Hall, Dablehar; M/s Mela Medical Hall, Dablehar; M/s Jojra Medical Hall, Khamb; M/s Baldhotra Medical Hall, Khamb; M/s Ajay Medicos, Arnia; M/s Badyal Medico Aid, Arnia; M/s Isha Medical Hall, Arnia; M/s Shonka Medical Hall, Arnia and M/s Sham Medical Hall, Arnia.
