DFCO conducts surprise inspection of medicine outlets

KATHUA, Jan 12: Drug and Food Control Organization (DFCO) today conducted a surprise inspection of various retail and wholesale outlets of medicines in the district.
The inspection was conducted by a team of Drugs Inspectors headed by Renuka Raina, Licensing Authority, Kathua/Samba under the supervision of Lotika Khajuria, Controller, Drugs and Food Control Organization, J&K.
The team checked various retail/wholesale outlets of medicines and 19 statutory drug samples of various formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs, etc were drawn to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs.
During the drive, stocks of drugs viz Intraocular Lenses (softlens-SE), Microsurgical Knife, Sefast, Tetanus vaccines, R-Vac, etc, amounting to more than Rs 30,000 were confiscated  by the Inspectorate Staff for violation of various provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and rules there under. Notices were issued to the defaulters and investigations in the matter were underway.
