DODA, Apr 12: To commemorate Baisakhi festival, a Subar Nag Mela was organized wherein thousands of devotees paid obeisance at ancient Subar Nag temple situated at a height of 12,000 feet from sea level at Sibar Dhar, 30 kilometers from Bhaderwah town.
The traditional celebrations started early in the morning with the opening of the doors of  700-year-old Subar Nag Temple at Subar Dhar, 30 kilometers from Bhaderwah town. Hundreds of Nag devotees converged at hill top meadow surrounded with snow peaked mountains after trekking 12 kilometers steep hill to pay obeisance to the lord Subar Nag.
“This festival has not only the religious importance but this is also the most ancient festival of this area. Devotees from the different parts of the Bhaderwah arrived here with holy mace to have blessings of Lord Subar Nag at this 700 years old temple, the doors of which were thrown open for the devotees this morning”, said Head Priest of this historic temple.
According to the reports, a total of 15,000 devotees including 9000 women paid obeisance at this ancient temple.
“After four months of dull life, during which we mostly remain indoors due to harsh climatic conditions and snow, this festival which marks the new spring season, not only rejuvenates us but also gives us a chance to meet our relatives and friends. Besides all our wishes are full filled by Lord Subar Nag”, said a devotee Sangeeta.
Holy mace (Charri Mubaraq) from Chinta, Shourara and Bhalaara reached the temple at 2 pm after which people started celebrating Baisakhi festival with traditional Dekhu dance.
Community fest was organized for the devotees by the volunteers of Chinta Village and the administration had made adequate security arrangements for the function.
