Development works in Ladakh

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Leh, Kargil receiving special attention of Govt’ DE May 20.
Though Government may claim that much has been done to improve the condition of twin towns of Ladakh division-Leh and Kargil, it may be said here that much more needs to be done to improve the lot of people here. Being cut off from rest of the world for almost six months, no developmental works are executed here during this period.
As a result, no worthwhile development has taken place in this region. The Government must allocate sufficient funds so that a  number of works are executed simultaneously during the season of summer. There is urgent need to generate job opportunities for the educated youth of this region.
As private sector does not exist here, unemployed youth have no scope for opportunities. They mostly depend on tourism sector which too is a seasonal trade. There is great scope for exploring local trade for which people need bank loans at low rates. The Government must provide skill knowledge to youth by opening computer training and other vocational centres throughout the region.
Besides, the twin cities need to be given face lift  on a regular basis. Though Leh is somewhat clean, there is need to be improve civic amenities in this part of the country.
Yours etc…
Tsering Angchok
