Development of rural areas priority of Govt: Vikar

SRINAGAR, Sept 15: Minister of State for Technical Education, Power & Information, Vikar Rasool Wani has reiterated the resolve of the Coalition Government to strengthen the rural infrastructure to provide better amenities to the people of rural and far-flung areas. He said Government is working under a well-knit programme formulated for the development of rural and Pahari areas.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Banihal, the Minister said that during the past five years, the Government has done massive work in every vital sector and change is visible on ground and people themselves have acknowledged the fact. He said special focus has been accorded on improving the road connectivity, power, education, health services and social welfare which are keys to transform the socio-economic profile of the people of rural areas.
On the issue of unemployment, the Minister said that Government has given due attention to this sector and large number of educated unemployed youth have been absorbed in Government and private sector during the past couple of years. He said the network of Polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes has also been strengthened to provide technical trainings to the educated youth in the rural areas.
He said Government has also evolved a provision to impart job oriented technical trainings to the boys and girls in other States on Government expenses, which will help them to get jobs in the market easily. He further said that Government has decided to train 1000 SPOs in different trades and after training they will be absorbed in the Police Department.
He urged the people to strengthen the hands of present Government so that the administration concentrates fully on the development. He asked the people to maintain peace and communal harmony, which is pre-requisite for the development of all areas.
