JAMMU, Jan 27: Nazir Gurezi, Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Gurezi apprised the Governor about the work so far concluded in the ongoing Assembly Session and significant matters which were expected to be taken up in the coming days.
He also voiced concern about the recent incidents of snow avalanches in Gurez and elsewhere in the Valley and stressed the hardships being faced by people due to heavy snowfall and the resulting loss to life and property.
R. S Chib, former Minister also called Governor and discussed several issues relating to the welfare of ex-servicemen in J&K, implementation of developmental programmes in R.S Pura Sub Division and problems faced by those living in the border areas.
Governor urged Chib to continue his endeavours for the welfare of the people of his area and assured attention to the problems of ex-servicemen.
Mohammad Shafi Pandit, former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission (PSC) also called on Governor.
Pandit informed the Governor about the results so far achieved and the activities being presently undertaken by the institution being run by him to provide coaching to students who are preparing for the Civil Services Examination and for admission to IITS. This coaching centre is under the aegis of the Govt of India scheme to promote the interests of the minority communities.
The Governor urged Pandit to continue his endeavours for promoting the prospects of youth, on all fronts.
