Deptt of Libraries organizes seminar on Reading Habits

JAMMU, July 12: Depar-tment of Libraries and Research, J&K, today organized a seminar on Reading Habits in the premises of District Library, Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk, Jammu.
The seminar organized today was a part of month-long programme on National Mission on Reading being organized in collaboration with PN Panicker Foundation under the chairpersonship of Renu Kumari, Deputy Director Libraries Jammu and under the guidance of Director of Libraries Jammu.
While addressing the gathering during the seminar, Renu Kumari, said, “A book is the best friend, a person can have; books not only provide knowledge but also enable us to understand the society we live in and help us in creation of a better world”.
In the seminar, students, educationists, book borrowers and other book friends participated in large number. While addressing the participants Kumari enlightened them about the significance of reading and emphasized on reading more and more books.
Shahid Hussain, Junior Librarian, District Jammu and Kulwant Singh educated the participants in general and students in particular regarding the influence of reading books on the career of students. They also encouraged the students to inculcate reading habits among them.
Others who addressed the seminar were Lekh Raj Khajuria, Deedar Singh, Subash Chander, Babu Hussain, Ranjit Singh, Aslam Khan and Manohar Lal.
On the occasion several books were distributed among the students. The programme concluded with formal vote of thanks by Shahid Hussain.
