IT Deptt issues fresh summons to Misa Bharti, her husband

NEW DELHI, Aug 17:
The Income Tax Department today issued fresh summons to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar to appear before it on Monday in cases related to disproportionate assets and benami properties cases.
According to official sources, Income Tax Department is likely to file a criminal complaint against Ms Bharti and Mr Kumar soon.
It is expected that the criminal complaint will be filed in a Delhi court and the tax officials want to question Ms Bharti and her husband again in Delhi to get more info related to their properties and the way it has been acquired.
Criminal complaint is also likely against Mr Lalu Yadav’s wife and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi and their son and former deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
Last month, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a chargesheet against Misa Bharti’s Chartered Accountant Rajesh Agarwal in money laundering case.
The chargesheet against Rajesh Agarwal in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case was filed before the court of Special Judge Naresh Kumar Malhotra.
The Income Tax Department is probing how shell companies were used by Lalu Yadav and his family to buy expensive properties in Delhi and Patna in a benaami property case.  (UNI)
