REASI, Nov 27: To ensure smooth conduct of Assembly elections in the district, the District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Reasi Shabir Ahmad Bhatt convened a joint meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates and Zonal and Sector Police Officers here today.
SSP Reasi Vivek Gupta, ADC, S K Gupta, ACD, J S Rai, senior officers from civil administration and police were also present on the occasion.
District Election Officer while speaking on the occasion stressed the need for better coordination between Zonal and Sectoral Police Officers and Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates for the smooth conduct of the Assembly elections in the district. He said that each Magistrate should be well versed with the location of polling station, collection centers, route map, sector, transport and communication plans.
Bhatt asked the Magistrates to ensure that Model Code of Conduct is not violated by anyone in the process of election. He further asked them to flash reports to his office from time to time. Information regarding the start of poll, time of first vote cast, oldest person, handicapped casting votes and closing of poll to be flashed at regular intervals.
SSP Reasi also briefed the participants about their responsibilities as Zonal and Sector Officers for the fair and smooth conduct of the elections and stressed upon them to work with zeal and dedication on the assigned duties as per the directions and guidelines of the ECI.
