Dental surgeons take out candle march, continue dharna

JAMMU, July 28: The dental surgeons today took out a candle march in protest against Government for not conceding their demands.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and marched towards New Plot. They were raising slogans against the Government for not redressing their demands.
Meanwhile, female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the sixteenth consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 28th consecutive day here today.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Nimrat Kour was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
Addressing the gathering, chairman of the association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia said that Government is ignoring the agendas of civil society in lieu of coming elections which will prove as self-inflicting harms to them.
He said that the coalition Government has no right to remain in power if it cannot fulfill the genuine demands of people who voted for  it.
He informed that a delegation of the association met with Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Thakur Hari Singh and apprised him about the grievances. The delegation urged him to take up the issues of the association with party high command for redressal, he stated.
Dr Jasrotia stated that the protest will continue till their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the State is met with.
