JAMMU, Oct 4: Anguished over illegal demolition of residential houses by Jammu Development Authority (JDA), residents of area near Railway Station Jammu have appealed Governor to ensure restoration of their houses as they were before, to ensure justice to all law abiding citizens of the State.
While addressing a press conference here today, representatives of victims alleged that this misconduct by JDA has resulted in sheer suffering for law abiding citizens of the State. They termed this action of JDA as unauthorized use of power.
“We have all legal and original documents pertaining to ownership rights of our land and houses. We have also obtained permissions from Municipal Corporation, Jammu for construction of our houses. The JDA action on our residential premises is astonishing, as these were constructed three decades ago by fulfilling all legal formalities”, they added.
The residents said that they are law abiding citizens of the State and are not against any anti-encroachment drive. “But we are against this misconduct where legally authorized houses were demolished making us homeless”, they added.
Hardev Singh, Satpal Sharma and Ishan Sharma– representatives of victims, demanded independent enquiry in the misconduct by the Nodal Officers to ensure justice to all the victims. They also demanded issuance of order copy authorizing JDA to demolish legal houses in the area.
Terming the JDA action as motivated and a plot to harass the law abiding citizens, they urged Governor SP Malik and his advisors to direct the concerned authorities to take action against erring JDA officials for this grave misconduct and ensure restoration of their houses in the same situation as they were before demolition.
