JAMMU, Apr 17: Pahelwan Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi lifted 33th Salora Kesari 2017 Title by defeating Wrestler Ajay Sharma of Udhampur in the first malli bout that was played at Salora, here today.
Dangal was organized by Salora Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra.
Senior NC Leader, Som Raj Khajuria was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers.
Mr Sharma, who is also Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council presided over the function.
Retired SP Prithvi Raj Sharma was the guest of honour.
Prominent persons who were present on the occasion included SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Rakesh Singh, NC Leader Noor Ali, Romesh Chander, Madan Mohan Dubey, Mohd. Sadiq, Bansi Lal (All Sarpanches), Virender Sharma and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri).
In all, 60 bouts were played in the one day long dangal. Winner of the first malli bout Kapil was awarded with cash prize of Rs 12,000 by Som Raj Khajuria, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Rajinder Kumar Ramotra while runner-up wrestler Ajay Sharma was given Rs 9,000 by Chunni Lal Ramotra, Ahem Din and Surat Singh (Sonu).
