Delhi, Chandigarh emerge winners; J&K loses

KATRA, Feb 13: Formidable sides of Delhi and Chandigarh won their ties, while J&K lost today in the ongoing 73rd Santosh Trophy for North Zone underway at Sports Complex Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Sports Shrine Board, here.
Today the matches were expected to be a high voltage encounters, which lived up to the expectations of the spectators, who had thronged the venue in huge numbers.
The first match was played between Delhi and J&K, which Delhi won by two goals to nil (2-0). Tushar Chaudhary scored the 1st goal for Delhi and the host team conceded the 2nd self goal. Delhi are now at the top of points table with 6 points.
In another match, Chandigarh won against Uttarakhand by four goals to one (4-1). Amit Kumar scored two goals while Ravinder Singh and Gaurav Negi netted one goal each for Chandigarh. Chirag Negi scored the lone goal from Uttarakhand.
The Championship is being organized by J&K Football Association under the aegis of AlFF in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council and is being supported by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and J&K Bank Ltd.
