Delhi boy Farhan Sabir wins “The Voice India”

MUMBAI, Mar 13: Delhi-based Farhan Sabir emerged as the winner of the second season of singing reality show “The Voice India”.

            With Shaan, Neeti Mohan, Salim Merchant and Benny Dayal as coaches, “The Voice India”, aired on & TV channel has a unique format of blind auditions and battle rounds.

            The grand finale that was held last night saw top four contestants Niyam Kanungo (Team Neeti), Parakhjeet Singh (Team Shaan), Farhan Sabir (Team Shaan) and Rasika Borkar (Team Benny) battle it out in a high-octane musical face-off, a press release issued here said.

            It was left to the audience to pick one voice and Farhan was announced as the winner of the singing reality show.

            “I am speechless right now and the feel of winning the show is still sinking in. I will cherish this moment and work harder to find myself a place in the music industry,” Sabir said in the release.

            “I would like to thank Shaan sir who has been more than a mentor to me in this journey. Also, I would like to thank the audience for believing in me and my talent,” he said.

            A resident of Delhi, Sabir is influenced by classical singing and plays Tabla. Since his father suffered from brain tumour, he left his studies at the age of 19 and worked in a café to support his family financially.

            Sabir received a cheque of Rs 25 lakh from & TV and was awarded a car.

            According to coach Shaan, Sabir’s journey on “The Voice India” has been phenomenal.

            “‘The Voice India’ has been a learning ground for me as well and I am going back with a lot of memories which will be treasured,” he said.

            The grand finale was a star studded affair with legendary singer Anushka Sharma and Asha Bhosale gracing the occasion. There were performances by Mika Singh and the show coaches. (PTI)
