Delegation of J&K Urdu Council calls on Governor

SRINAGAR, Aug 22: A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council led by Jan Mohammad Azad, called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
The delegation voiced their concerns about the continuing decline in the promotion of the Urdu language in the State. Emphasizing the importance of Urdu language, as a far more practical communication link between all regions of J&K, the delegation urged the Governor to consider introduction of Urdu language from primary classes upto the University level in all the regions of the State.
The Governor informed the delegation about the measures already initiated in the State Universities and assured that he would review the outcome and reiterate  the concerns already conveyed to the institutions of higher learning.
The delegation comprised Javed Matjee, Chief Spokesman, Shabir Ahmad, Sadiq Ali, Aijaz Ahmad Kakroo and Shahnawaz Khurram.
