Srinagar, Apr 23: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has said that Lok Sabha elections offer a historic opportunity to people to liberate themselves from the exploitation of the National Conference which has been thriving on their blood and misery for more than eight decades.
Addressing various roadside meetings at Kangan segment of Srinagar Parliamentary constituency Mehbooba appealed the people to come out to vote for a bright future. “Down the shutter on the commission agency that the NC has been running in the state trading our honour, dignity, lives and resources for the luxury of Abdullah family and their cohorts,” she told her audience. Party leader Bashir Ahmad Mir, zone president Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Mian Javaid Nizami, Syed Irfan and others were also present on this occasion.
She said by killing innocent people we won’t be able to achieve anything beyond tragedies and now to create a fear among the people the NC is employing dirty tricks to keep them away from the polling stations to get benefit out of that. “For more than five years NC-Congress used police to beat people into silence over issues of bijli, sadak, pani and rozgar. Now it is using gunmen to keep them away from voting as they know every vote cast would go against them in view of their disastrous performance,” Mehbooba said and added boycott is NC’ lifeline and friendship constitutes its external support system.
She said if the NC is able to once again win the elections through its dirty tricks and innocent killings Kashmir might never be able to get rid of it..
Mehbooba said in 2010 Omar Abdullah’s Government supervised the killing of 120 innocent people mostly young man who were fighting for their rights and later instead of fixing responsibility the Chief Minister justified the barbarism and demonized the martyrs as paid agents, criminals and stone-pelters.
She said the mysterious death of Haji Yousuf, a NC sympathizer, at the Chief Minister’s residence in 2011, exposes the misdeeds of Abdullahs and instead of accepting the moral responsibility of the crime, Omar Abdulla went on to hush up the case.Mehbooba said Mohammad YousufBhat of Ganderbal who was also duped of more than one crore rupees, had recently said that ‘he saved Omar Abdullah and his party NC by not sharing information about the circumstances in which Haji Yousuf died.’
Referring to the secret hanging of Mohammad AfzalGuroo, Mehbooba said whenever the NC needs a sacrificial lamb to promote its politics and chances of its friends to win at the national level; the Abdullahs can go to any extent without caring about the aspirations and sentiments of their people.
Mehbooba said the ruling party had started its innings with the killing of a deaf and dumb person few meters away from the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s residence. “The rape and murder of two unfortunate women in Shopian; burning of the historical shrine Dastegeer Shaib (RA) shrine; BOPEE scam, Drug scam, PHE scam, cricket scam, irrigation scam, recruitment frauds, Forest land grab scam are some of the hallmark achievements of this Government over the last five years in the State”
Calling upon people to understand the tricks of the ruling party, she said the NC will continue with its ugly machinations if people don’t come out to vote in large numbers in the elections.
