JAMMU, Apr 23: A debate competition was held at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk on the topic ‘Corruption: A moral or social evil’, here today.
The competition was organized by the students of NSS Unit cell of the College.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Arun Bangotra, Principal, Government Polytechnic Jammu, who in his inaugural speech briefed the students about the importance of taking part in such competitions.
The event was participated by 12 debaters.
The speakers were the students of Mechanical, Electrical, Computers, Instrumentation and Architecture Departments, who spoke how corruption erodes the society and makes people morally weak.
The judges of the competition were the staff members including Vandana Chib, Seema Kanotra and Bhupinderjeet Kour.
Dawar Hussion from Architecturer Department stood first, while Aqib Rashid and Samriti from Electrical Engineering Department stood 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The organizer of the event was Ajay Thapa, Co-ordinator, NSS.
Others who were present on the occasion were Inderjeet Singh, Workshop Superint-endent, Kuldeep Bhatia, HoD, Mechanical and Munish Kumar, HoD, Instrumentation and Control and staff members and students of the College.
