Srinagar, Mar 20: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Victor Force, Major General Ashok Narula, today said that security forces’ operations in South Kashmir are going on in full pace and strategy is being changed whenever it is needed. He said that security forces deal effectively with stone pelters during the operations.
“Our method of functioning has remained same. We were getting success before 8th of July (when Burhan was alive) and we are getting success after that also. We, as things keep changing, keep evolving ourselves. We have evolved in the manner. Whatever will come from that side, I will be able to manage to it”, Major General Narula said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Budgam.
“We were conducting operation in the similar manner before 8th of July and presently also. Only thing I am saying is that we evolve with situations and we have evolved our new methodology. We are working perfectly fine and things are working okay. I am sure we will get many more successes in days to come”, he said.
The GOC said that Police and CRPF are dealing with the crowds who tend to disrupt the security forces operations. “Not really, if there is an operation going on (and) people come on the side, there are methods of dealing with them. Police and CRPF does take care in a very very good manner (sic). I am saying all security forces work in tandem and all of us are in very good sync. That’s the requirement of Kashmir and that’s how it is working”, he said.
Major General Narula said that security forces are conducting successful operations in South Kashmir. “…In South Kashmir, things were what they were. Last year, summer of 2016, we all know what we have gone through but things were in control. As of now also, since January lot of operations have been done and all successful operations have been done. All this has been possible because all security forces have got their own task and it is well charted who is to do what. In my case, what Army is supposed to do what police is supposed to do what CRPF is supposed to do, we are very sure as how to go about it (and) that’s why the successful operations have taken place. Things are very well in control and we would be able to manage it in a good manner”, he said.
The GOC, while playing down militant threats, said that security forces are working for smooth election process.
“See whenever this kind of thing happens, these posters are put up. All kind of threats are given. I will remind you regarding our exams of 10th and 12th, we had more posters at that time but our percentage which was there it was more than 95 percent. I only see this as norm that they will do it. But the election process as per me, I am sure we will be able to manage to it. All security forces are working towards it and it will be managed in a good manner”, he said.
The GOC said that there is complete synergy between various security agencies. “Numbers make no difference to us. It may be 20, it may be 30 or whatever number. I am again saying it is synergy which matters and that synergy is existing at the moment and we will be able to manage it in good manner, I can assure you that”, he said.
