UDHAMPUR, Mar 16: Deputy Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar was felicitated for exemplary success achieved under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) scheme by the district in a programme organized here today.
Member Legislative Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta and MLA Chenani, Dina Nath Bhagat besides ADDC, Arvind Sharma and ADC Krishan Lal and other district, sectoral officers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
During the programme, Nodal Officer BBBP Cell, Rachna Sharma, gave detailed resume of various activities undertaken in ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Abhiyan’ in last 2 years, highlighting winning “Spot the Logo” contest and being only district in J&K to be awarded by Prime Minister on the occasion of Pan India Expansion of BBBP Abhiyan .
While congratulating DDC , MLA Udhampur said that the objective of the scheme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ is to make people aware about the importance of girl child in the society besides bringing about an attitudinal change among the people towards girl child. He added that such awareness programmes would help in ensuring empowerment of women through education and equal participation in all the working fields besides preventing gender biased sex selective elimination of girl child.
MLA Chenani , Dina Nath Bhagat stressed on the importance of education of girls and laid focus on wide awareness of various Government schemes launched for the welfare of the girls like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao among people and urged the girls to avail benefit of these schemes.
