DDC takes stock of ongoing developmental works

SRINAGAR, June 9: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara Khalid Jahangir took stock of ongoing developmental works at different places of Mawar, Maretgam, Hangah, Manzpora, Qalamabad, Chontipora and Lachh areas of district Kupwara.
He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Muzaffer Ahmad, Tehsildar Handwara and Qalamabad, Executive Engineer PHE and PDD and field functionaries of different departments.
DC directed the concerned authorities for timely completion of the ongoing works in the said areas.
He also inspected the work going on Chotipora Nowgam road at Chountipora, Manzpora and Lachh and directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of the road within a stipulated time frame. He directed the BEACON authorities and revenue officials to construct permanent concrete poles on the edge of 66 feet wide road.
Jahangir visited Government Boys Secondary School Hangah and Maratgam and took stock of overall performance of the schools. He interacted with students and teachers and stressed for enhancing female literacy ratio, an indicator of growth in which Kupwara is lagging behind compared to other districts of Valley.
A deputation from Batagund and Qalamabad also met DC and apprised him of illegal extraction going on in Mawar nallah. DC directed the already constituted Monitoring Committee to look into the allegations of illegal extractions.
Meanwhile, DC inspected the work in progress on Primary Health Centre and widening of Qalamabad road. He directed the R&B authorities to complete the work on PHC by the end of June. He also directed the R&B and revenue officials to prepare assessment for compensation of road.
DC also directed the concerned authorities to start work on flyover near Government Boys Higher Secondary school Qalamabad.
While interacting with shopkeepers in Qalamabad, demand for installation of street lights in market was raised and DC directed PDD authorities to prepare DPR for early resolution of this demand.
