SRINAGAR, June 19: District Development Commis-sioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today conducted an extensive tour of Kupwara town and took stock of the ongoing developmental works and reviewed cleanliness works.
He was accompanied by SSP Kupwara, Additional SP Kupwara, Executive Engineers of R&B, PDD, PHE, Tehsildar Kupwara, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Traffic Police Kupwara, AC Food Safety and Executive Officer of Municipal Committee Kupwara.
The DDC Kupwara visited various markets, roads, link roads, lanes, bus stands, public spaces, etc and took stock of the ongoing developmental activities and problems/issues faced by the public.
He instructed the Executive Officer Municipality to start a cleanliness drive in the wake of forthcoming festive season, particularly the Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul –vida and Eid-ul-Fitr. He also advised the Executive Officer to earmark a suitable location in the Bus Stand for positioning of the fruit vendors (rehriwalas) in the bus stand to obviate inconvenience to the general public or hindrance in the plying of vehicles.
The Executive Officer was called upon to immediately take up the matter of macadamization of Old Bus Stand with higher authorities so that necessary funds are released for carrying out the said work during the current working season. He was also instructed to arrange receptacles for placement at important locations/mohallas of Kupwara town for collection and disposal of the solid waste.
The Executive Engineer R&B Kupwara was instructed to blacktop the main road before the holy festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, as a goodwill gesture and in order to improve the ambience/outlook of the town.
The DDC also visited New Bus Stand Kupwara, and directed Executive Engineer R&B/ Executive Officer Municipality to take immediate steps for commencing the balance work in regard to development of the New Bus Stand.
Executive Officer Municip-ality was also directed to take effective steps for ensuring against dumping of construction material on the roads, lanes and link roads.
