DDC declares open JKCA Premier Championship at Kishtwar

*Asraria Club wins opening tie

JAMMU/ KISHTWAR /REASI, July 1:  District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana declared the JKCA Premier Championship open in an impressive, colourful and well attended function at Choghan Ground, Kishtwar, today.
The chief guest, Angrez Singh inaugurated the event in the presence of Abrar Choudhary, SSP-Kishtwar, Parbeet, ASP Kishtwar and Major Ankit Bakshi, who were the guests of honour.
16 teams are participating in the tournament on knockout basis as per the pattern already adopted in other ongoing District tournaments.
The players participating are provided opportunity to showcase their talent and reserve berth as probable for JKCA under the notable administration of Justice CK Prasad, retired Judge of the Supreme Court and Justice Syed Rafat Alam, Chief Justice of MP and Allahabad High Courts and Chief Executive Officer, JKCA Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, retired DIG.
These District level tournaments at various districts of Jammu province are being organized under the overall supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal and Sham Saroop Kalsotra, Committee Members, JKCA, Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that JKCA has taken the initiative to connect and engage the youth by medium of cricketing activities and the tournament is open for affiliated, non-affiliated clubs and the teams from far-flung areas of the districts.
Meanwhile, speaking on the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest appreciated the efforts of J&K Cricket Association for holding the tournaments to hunt talent.
The inaugural function was arranged by Arshan Amen Choudhary, Coordinator, Kishtwar District Tournament Organizing Committee and its Executive members formed by J&K Cricket Association under the supervision of Sameer Malik, Chief Selector cum observer.
In the opening match at Choghan Ground, Kishtwar, Asraria Cricket Club defeated Malipeth Cricket Club by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Malipeth Cricket Club scored a modest total of 137 runs in 26.4 overs, while in reply, Asraria scored the required runs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Jansher of Asraria Cricket Club was adjudged as the man of the match.
At GGM Science College Hostel Ground, Jammu, in the first match, Khour Cricket Club defeated Bandral Cricket Club by 62 runs. Khour scored 159 runs while Bandral Club bundled out for 97 runs. In another match at this venue, Palanwala Cricket Club defeated Aghore County Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Aghore collapsed at 61 runs in 13.3 overs, while Planwala managed to score the runs in 7.3 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets.
At Sports Stadium, Reasi, SSCC Reasi thrashed Reasi CC by a big margin of 95 runs. Batting first, SSCC scored 155 runs, while in reply Reasi Cricket Club bundled out for meagre total of 60 runs, thus lost the match by 95 runs.
