DCW appeals to all Delhi #MeToo complainants to file complaints in the Commission

NEW DELHI, Oct 14: Taking cognizance of the rising number of women and girls narrating their horrific ordeals with sexual predators through the MeToo campaign, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Sunday appealed to the women and girl activists of this campaign to report the incidents of sexual crimes to the Police and Women Commission.

The DCW has set up a separate email id for reporting the MeToo complaints at metoodcw@gmail.com, a statement issued by Commission said.

“You may also decide to call 181 for any assistance regarding the same. DCW Mahila Helpline No  181 is a toll free service which has already acted upon 2.35 lakh calls in last 2.5 years since its handover from the Delhi Government. 181 helpline works 24 hours,” it stated.

The Commission said it will always stand by the MeToo activists in solidarity and shall assist them in all ways possible and  appealed to the MeToo activists to reach out to the Commission so that each case reaches it’s logical end.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal in her letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier appealed for him to support #MeToo campaign.

She further mentioned that somewhere our system’ failure has fuelled the #MeToo campaign as most of the girls and women are losing faith in our system.

Ms Maliwal had also appealed to the PM to ensure a better justice delivery system by having more fast track courts, increased police resources as well as their accountability. (UNI)
